Remy Vroonen was born in 1993. Drawn to the outdoors, he started out in sports and travel photography, particularly mountain biking, following and documenting sponsored athletes in races around the world. For a change of pace and to focus more on people and sharing stories, he decided to follow the international photojournalism programme in Aarhus, Denmark.
Halfway between documentary photography and auteur photography, Remy Vroonen particularly thrives on working with black and white film, from developing to printing, which he does at his home darkroom in Freiburg. At the same time, he also enjoys filming also with 16mm film camera.
Of Franco-Belgian origin, he has always travelled and lived between different countries.
He is now based in southern Germany - Freiburg im Breisgau but works all over the world. He speaks French, English, German and Spanish.
